The Colorado State University Equine Reproduction Laboratory has received a $3 million donation from Bud and Jo Adams, a notable couple within the Arabian horse industry. The money will be used to support clinical research used to foster the world’s best equine genetics, in addition to training a new generation of equine professionals, a CSU news release said on Thursday.
The Adams’ said the university’s equine program has benefitted their Scottsdale, Ariz.-based business, Adams Arabians, for many years, and the donation was their way of giving back. CSU’s Equine Reproduction Lab has pioneered techniques in both animal and human reproduction assistance, including semen freezing and cooling, and embryo transfer.
In October, the lab will officially be named the Bud and Jo Adams Equine Reproduction Laboratory.
