A beautiful afternoon at the Rae-Dawn Arabians in Scottsdale, Arizona during one of the many presentations the farm held during the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. 

“Putting the pretty in pretty athletic” should be the new tag line for Rae-Dawn Arabians and the Popplewell’s breeding program…a spectacular collection of the Rae-Dawn Arabians breeding program, proudly & thoughtfully bred over the past many years. The “RD” prefix continues to echo in show rings the world over with Arabian horses winning the highest of honours; Donna Molta Bella SRA (out of Rae-Dawn bred RD Fabreana and named 2014 Paris World Champion Yearling Filly), RD Habanero (Multi-National Champion Western Pleasure Jr. Horse), RD Nevaska (National Champion Hunter Pleasure), and RD Dynamo (National Champion Halter) to name just a few. What I most admire about the Rae-Dawn program is that not only are the horses extremely pretty – with beautifully sculpted faces, tight tippy ears, gorgeous set on necks, and outstanding show attitude! – but all of this is tied into a beautiful and balanced body with strong legs and feet with excellent movement- the RD horses are also so incredibly athletic, so functional. I commend the Popplewell’s for their outstanding dedication to producing Arabian horses that have the ability to compete at the highest levels of competition in halter, but who also have the correct structure (and sound minds!) to continue on to a performance career winning National Championships as well… and that they are doing, very well. So many of today’s horses being bred are specialized to specific disciplines or careers – the Popplewell’s program, however, has never sacrificed type for structure and for this we can rest assured knowing that the RD bred horses will continue to garner ribbons and roses and add accolades for many years to come.
